Private Pilates Sessions

Private pilates sessions last 50 minutes and are tailored to your individuals needs and goals. Using the wide range of exercises available on the unique Pilates equipment, Beth guides you through a range of movements helping you become aware of your posture and movement habits. Exercises expand movement options and develop body awareness and communication for better symmetry and balance. And, along the way, you’ll enjoy improved core strength, flexibility, and suppleness of the shoulder girdle and hip joints.

For Beth, the workout is not just about building strength. It is also about using the body efficiently with mindfulness. Many clients comment that not only are their muscles worked, but their brain is “sore” as well!

Beth uses a “JC 5600” machine built by Balance Body. This unique design incorporates both the traditional Pilates Reformer with the Cadillac, or Trapeze Table.

She also uses the Wunda Chair.

Pilates is very well suited for the equestrian as it enhances balance and posture – skills vital for fun and healthy riding.

Private sessions are scheduled Monday-Thursday mornings and occasional evenings.

Fees:

  • Single private: $65
  • 5-pack of lessons: $270
  • 10-pack of lessons: $450
  • Introductory 3-pack of lessons (one time only!): $150

Fees include sales tax; discounted packages expire in 6 months; 24-hr notice required for cancellation to avoid charge.

“Pilates has increased my flexibility, refined my sense of balance and, most importantly, taught me to use my mind to be aware of and control movement patterns – all skills invaluable to the aspiring dressage rider. Beth’s medical expertise, considerable skill as a dressage rider, and personal challenges with back pain make her a most knowledgeable, capable and compassionate teacher.”

“As someone who has experienced many riding related injuries, (broken back herniated cervical disks, etc., etc.) I know all too well the importance of core strengthening in order to continue riding. My work can be very stressful and your Pilates sessions remind me to slow down and be present. Besides the numerous benefits of the Pilates-based exercises you also encourage each of us at whatever our level of expertise to go just a bit further.”

Beth’s medical expertise, considerable skill as a dressage rider, and personal challenges with back pain make her a most knowledgeable, capable and compassionate teacher.”

“The body awareness and core stability I have learned through Pilates has helped my riding, and has also helped in my normal daily activities. My posture is better and I have fewer headaches and tight shoulders/neck after a long day at work. I can highly recommend Beth as a careful, committed teacher whose medical and personal dressage background can safely build the rider’s self -carriage.”

“With Beth’s coaching, I am stronger, more flexible and straighter on a horse than I was two years ago. Her keen eye and knowledge of riding allow her to tailor each session to my current problem areas, and her medical background reassures me that she truly understands how the body works and how to maximize the effects of each workout. I can’t think of anything a rider could do off a horse that would be as beneficial to their riding as Pilates with Beth.”

“If you do individual and class work with Beth, know that it is not just dressage that we are training for, it is life itself, uninhibited and in balance.”

“I believe that pilates has improved my physical health by strengthening my own “self carriage and straightness.” If I am using my body in correct balance, then it makes my horse’s job easier.”

“My history is a common one. Twenty-five years of back problems from a ruptured disk had restricted my movements and fear of re-injury had slowly altered my lifestyle. I was in my mid fifties and had decided that there were many activities I could never do again. One day a friend suggested that I try something called Pilates ‘because it is good for backs’. With only that bit of information I went to the Pilates studio and met Beth.”

“We started with a simple roll back. I instantly saw how restricted my movements had become. I could only ratchet down and struggle to get up. If Beth had been anyone else I would have never gone back. Her compassion came from a deep understanding of pain and fear. Her excellent people skills came from that compassion and a keen intuition about the body. Her patience was amazing in that I never felt she was using it.”

“During my sessions, each new exercise built on the previous muscular connection so that transitions were logical and easy. This is where Beth’s gift as an instructor really lies. Pilate’s exercises strengthen the deep core muscles but only a perceptive instructor can visualize the progression from exercises in the studio to every day movements. Today as I sit at the computer or get up from my bed I use muscles that align my movements and prevent re-injury. I am deeply grateful for Beth’s intelligence, knowledge, perception and skill.”
