Those of you who frequent my studio for classes or private pilates sessions have met my new feline friends Pema and Punna. They moved from Seattle Humane to join my menagerie in June, 2014, at 2 months of age.
Meet Pema (named for Pema Chodron, a Buddhist nun). These are from her first days here.
Now meet Punna (named for a disciple of the Buddha).
These guys pulled some pretty classic pranks:
Then finally I thought they were “mature” enough to join in on my RiderPilates classes. And they jumped right in. These photos are from July and August, 2014 – they are 3-4 months old, and growing fast!
These guys are certainly not shy! They add wonderful random energy (and sometimes excessive distraction) to the classes. I am so grateful to have clients that are all animal-lovers and amused by the antics of these kittens.
When I can, I’ll get a video clip of Pema playing fetch – truly – she brings you her favorite sparkly squishy ball, drops it in your lap, and then tears off after it when it is thrown. Usually she brings it back, and again, drops it in your lap. It is the cutest thing EVER!
From my research, these kittens are at least part Maine Coon. They have the classic characteristics: male (Punna) larger than female (Pema), both are pretty big kittens so far….,long fluffy fur, long fluffy tail (Punna is so proud of his….), tufts of fur on their paws and ears, and a dog-like personality. And did I mention they are huge? And still growing (in all directions…)?
Here are some additional shots of my pilates kittens!
And here they are, 10 months old with their elder, Motor. Motor tries to be patient with these rascals, but must hiss when they play with her tail…. At this point, Punna is twice Motor’s weight, and Pema outweighs here by 2 lbs!
Apologies for photo quality. Kittens move quickly! And my iphone can only catch so much!
